BALTIMORE, MD (Monday, December 2, 2024) – The Mayor’s Office of Homeless Services (MOHS) and the Baltimore City Continuum of Care (CoC) are in need of volunteers to help conduct the 2025 Point-in-Time (PIT) Count of sheltered and unsheltered people experiencing homelessness in Baltimore City.

The Point-in-Time (PIT) Count is a HUD-mandated assessment that provides a snapshot of how many people are experiencing sheltered and unsheltered homelessness in a community on a given night in January. This year’s PIT Count kicks off at Our Daily Bread, 725 Fallsway, Baltimore, MD 21202 on Sunday, January 26, 2025, and Monday, January 27, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

The PIT Count is a community-wide effort that relies on the support of the CoC, city agencies, and community members. Volunteers are needed to canvass Baltimore City and administer surveys to individuals experiencing homelessness. The survey administered helps collect information that will support improving intervention strategies, and allow communities to assess their progress in reducing homelessness.

Here’s how it works:
Small groups of volunteers (four people in each group) will be led by an experienced homeless services provider to canvass Baltimore City streets to survey individuals experiencing homelessness. All volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and will be required to participate in a mandatory training session and ideally be able to commit to participating for both nights.

Interested individuals must sign up to volunteer via Eventbrite. Once registered, you will receive additional details regarding the 2025 PIT Count. The deadline to register is Monday, January 13,  2025 at 5:00 p.m. If you have any questions or would like to learn more, please email info@journeyhomebaltimore.org.
